Our elected officials need to treat our tax dollars with more respect

America cannot afford to ignore the national debt. Unchecked government spending threatens our economic strength, limits our ability to invest in the future, and can undermine our ability to defend our country. Not to mention, that WE pay for it. Congress has a responsibility to spend taxpayer dollars wisely and take the national debt seriously. But responsibility requires more than promises. It requires accountability. A balanced budget amendment would put pressure on Congress and the president to pass a balanced federal budget or face consequences at the ballot box. Taxpayers work hard for their money. They deserve a government that treats every dollar with responsibility and plans for the future instead of passing growing debts on to the next generation. It's time for Congress to take fiscal responsibility seriously. That is the integrity I will take to Congress.
